In comparison to conventional CT scans and X-rays, the dental I-CAT cone beam CT is a far more sophisticated computed tomography technique. While the images this machine produces are far more akin to those from a CT scan, the technology behind it is similar to that of a digital X-ray machine. The device creates a three-dimensional (3D) image of your mouth by rotating an X-ray beam in the shape of a cone around your head.
The cone rotates around your head, taking a number of pictures that are combined into a single, high-resolution 3D image that displays your teeth, soft tissues, nerves, and bones.
We can diagnose you far more accurately and give you a far more efficient treatment plan if we have a clear picture of your mouth.
